I'm a programmer living in Fort Collins, Colorado, and employed by the Ancient World Mapping Center at UNC-Chapel Hill. My first computer was an Atari 800, and I've been a Linux user since 1995. In the past I've been a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) consultant, an image analyst, and an Atmospheric Science student. In nearby parallel universes, I became a brewer or chef instead.
Pleiades is a collaborative workspace for the study of ancient geography.
I have a blog, where I write about Python, the geospatial business, and the Web.
I'm the lead on several open source software projects at the GIS and Python Laboratory.
My other main geospatial project is educating developers about best practices for GIS Web Services.
